Placer County French Meadows Restoration Project
MB&G has completed Phase 1 of this forest restoration project which involved collaborating with many regional and federal stakeholders including Tahoe National Forest, The Nature Conservancy, Placer County Water Agency, Sierra Nevada Conservancy, Sierra Nevada Research Institute, Placer County and the American River Conservancy. Together we developed forest restoration treatment alternatives and an associated cost analysis for Tahoe National Forest lands in the headwaters of the Middle Fork of the American River in Placer County, California.
Our team conducted field reconnaissance over 16,404 acre area, organized a field tour and presented information on site conditions and treatment alternatives at project meetings, and developed a field reconnaissance and treatment delineation report that assessed forest vegetation, identified and described treatment units, assessed pre-treatment and post treatment conditions, assessed infrastructure needs, and provided cost estimates for the treatments. We coordinated with members of the collaborative to ensure treatments were located appropriately on the landscape and that treatments follow the Forest Plan and meet the needs of the collaborative. GIS mapping was included throughout the project.
