Nestucca River Fish Passage Study
MB&G provided the lead fisheries biologist and project manager for a five-year survey of fish species presence, abundance, and population trends in the upper Nestucca River basin, downstream of McGuire Dam. The Tillamook County program was based on a regulatory requirement to review fish passage upstream of a natural fish passage barrier that was augmented by McMinnville Water & Light as part of mitigation for raising the height of McGuire Dam. Augmentation of the natural barrier was intended to improve fish passage conditions for sensitive anadromous salmonids and lamprey with a specific focus on federally listed coho salmon. Planned and led all field activities and surveys, coordination with McMinnville Water and Light (project owner) and regulatory agencies, and provided quality control of survey reports and findings.
