Kauai Woody Biomass Due Diligence

Green Energy Team, LLC retained MB&G to provide an independent review a fuel supply plan for a proposed biomass energy facility on the Island of Kauai, Hawaii, using a combination of plantation-grown eucalyptus and albizia. Our team traveled to the island and interviewed major landowners, land managers, state and local agency officials, and environmental stakeholders as well as conducting on-the-ground site visits and reconnaissance of eucalyptus plantations and albizia woodlands. Albizia is a very fast-growing, non-native invasive species rapidly expanding across abandoned sugarcane fields. The biomass project would provide an opportunity to control the spread of the tree and convert the wood fiber into usable, renewable  energy. The deliverable was an export report  subsequently used to secure project financing.
