FIA Foresthill Forestry Services
MB&G has provided a full-range of forest management services across FIA’s Foresthill property for over a decade. Our land management work involves timber sale administration, timber cruising, forest inventory management, tree planting, site preparation, and release treatments. In 2013 we developed an inventory sampling plan and successfully cruised approximately 8,000 acres. We also maintain the forest inventory database and provide quarterly and annual reporting for the property. Data management includes annual biological growth, reductions due to cutting or catastrophic events (such as wildfire), incorporation of new cruise data, and keeping both the tabular and GIS data up to date.
In the past five years we have planned and managed tree planting on 5,000 acres, completed forestry site preparation or release treatments on 6,500 acres. In addition, we have planned and managed timber harvesting in compliance with all state and federal requirements on 1,900 acres. Our team has salvaged timber after wildfire on 6,700 acres. All of this work was completed while ensuring compliance within some of the most rigorous regulatory requirements in the United States, including the California Forest Practice Act, California Environmental Quality Act, Federal Clean Water Act, California Fish and Game Code, National Environmental Policy Act, and the Federal Endangered Species Act. MB&G personnel on the property have earned and maintain designations as California Registered Professional Forester and/or Qualified Applicator Certificate.
