Mason, Bruce & Girard has provided on the ground inventory services since its inception. MB&G consistently completes inventory projects on time and on budget, while meeting contract specifications. Clients include federal, state, and large and small private landowners. Cruise projects, when combined with MB&G Tools and GIS capabilities, result in a state-of-the-art inventory for our clients.

MB&G also provides sophisticated inventory maintenance systems, using its own forest inventory/GIS software. MB&G can annually or periodically update inventories for such things as GIS edits, changes in land ownership, changing regulation impacts, timber harvest depletions, and growth. This allows clients to efficiently and cost effectively maintain their inventories over time. MB&G’s inventory systems are linked to GIS systems, which allow clients to efficiently use their mapping and visual capabilities.

Client Project

Boise Cascade

Performed (1) stand-based inventory cruise with 3,000 variable plots in Northeast Oregon; (2) property-wide cruise covering 153,000 acres with 1,500 variable plots in Central Eastern Washington; and (3) strata-based cruise covering 250,000 acres with 8,600 variable plots in Northeast Washington.

Timberland Investment Management Organization

Performed a stand-based inventory cruise on 9,000 acres with 1,830variable plots in the Southeast Cascades (Klickitat) region.

Private Client

Inventory maintenance for large timberland ownership in central Oregon totaling over 100,000 acres. Maintenance includes cruising activity, annual growth updates, corrections for GIS changes, and annual harvest depletion, along with annual growth updates.

Private Clients in Pennsylvania and Maine

Imported existing inventory data into MB&G application that allows multiple selections of data, merchandizing into products, growing selected inventory data and depleting by silvicultural treatments or harvest volumes. Prepared procedures for maintaining annualized inventory using fewer plots to keep inventory up-to-date. Projects covered private holdings of approximately 900,000 acres.

Private Client (TIMO) Designed and managed an inventory verification cruise on over 300,000 acres in Washington. This included supervising over 20 cruisers from three different firms and managing the cruise database for the cruise.
Industrial Client Conducted benchmark study of industrial forest inventory practices in western Oregon.
