MB&G’s Environmental Services Group provides comprehensive fish and wildlife-related project services. At the pre-project stage, MB&G biologists document environmental baseline conditions for fish and wildlife species and habitat, conduct presence/absence and population surveys, obtain permits from federal, state, and local agencies, and develop impact minimization measures and mitigation plans.

During project operations and/or construction, MB&G biologists help the operator to maintain compliance with permit conditions by monitoring work areas and wildlife species as needed, conducting fish salvage operations for projects that require work in water, and performing appropriate documentation of project activities. MB&G biologists also perform post-construction project monitoring and documentation.

MB&G has built a solid reputation for excellence in the fisheries and wildlife services field with industry and regulators alike, based on a commitment to high standards of ethical and scientific practice, as well as extensive staff knowledge of fish and wildlife species and the regulatory framework surrounding them.

Client Project

PacifiCorp

For the Lewis River Watershed, MB&G performed in-stream fish use surveys of more than 20 streams. Data collected during the surveys were used to determine appropriate timber harvest buffers required by Washington Department of Natural Resources. For the Merwin Project, MB&G biologists are implementing the Wildlife Habitat Management Plan on 5,600 acres of PacifiCorp land in the Lewis River watershed in Southwest Washington.

Kogap

MB&G biologists conducted peregrine falcon surveys ad consultations for a proposed timber sale in Jackson County, Oregon. Team members identified ways to perform the logging while minimizing potential impacts to nesting falcons.

US Forest Service (USFS)

MB&G conducted a training session for USFS biologists on sampling protocols for the Shasta salamander, and performed surveys for the Shasta salamander in the Shasta Lake Ranger District.

Rough & Ready Lumber Company

MB&G conducted a training session with Rough & Ready foresters regarding habitat requirements and US Fish & Wildlife Service survey protocols for the northern spotted owl.
