Dave joined MB&G in 1978 and became a shareholder in 1981. His work involves forest management, economic and environmental analysis, long-range planning, and forest policy.

Dave received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Forest Business Management from the University of Idaho and a Master of Forestry Degree in Forest Economics from Duke University. While in college in Idaho, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service, Potlatch Forests, Inc., and the University of Idaho. Following graduation from Duke University, Dave worked for the National Forest Products Association in Washington, D.C., as a forest resource analyst developing policy and position statements.

Dave served from 1969 to 1971 in the U.S. Army in South Vietnam. Upon discharge, Dave worked for the Industrial Forestry Association in Portland, Oregon, as a forest economist. His responsibilities included timber management planning, private tree farm management, certification of west coast tree farms, intensive forest management programs, timber supply research and policy development, state land use planning, analysis of Environmental Impact Statements, and regional economic analysis.

Since joining MB&G, Dave has worked with clients on intensive forest management programs and long-range timber supply projections. He has been responsible for analysis of investment potentials and forest policy. Dave has also developed and evaluated economic and employment impacts resulting from changes in timber harvest levels and management policies. He has used computerized models for regression analysis, economic analysis, and for large forest planning problems. In addition, he assists in the management of a large private timber property in Oregon, and has been involved with fiber supply studies in Oregon and California.
