Natural Resource GIS Analyst / Programmer
Brian graduated with distinction from the University of California at Berkeley where he received bachelor’s degrees in Geography and Conservation & Resource Studies, and completed minors in Forestry & Natural Resources and GIS Technology. Along with standard GIS analysis techniques, Brian has experience coding custom ArcPy extensions and R- and Python-based spatial data modeling tools for scientific analyses, including data visualization, data modeling, data mining, and machine learning techniques.
Before returning to school, Brian spent many years working as a Web Applications Developer, creating database-driven applications for clients such as Hewlett-Packard, Toshiba Computer, and Microsoft Corporation. In addition to his GIS and natural resource knowledge, Brian has well-developed relational database management skills, including experience composing complex SQL queries to combine data from many disparate datasets. He is also a certified Microsoft Office Specialist with experience applying even the most advanced features of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
